OpenSSH for Windows

OpenSSH for Windows

OpenSSH for Windows is a free package that installs a minimal OpenSSH server and client utilities in the Cygwin package without needing the full Cygwin installation.

The OpenSSH for Windows package provides full SSH/SCP/SFTP support. SSH terminal support provides a familiar Windows Command prompt, while retaining Unix/Cygwin-style paths for SCP and SFTP.

Under New Developer

A new developer is in house, clearing out the dust and getting this project rolling again. Here are some of the changes to come in the near future:

  • Updated release based on OpenSSH 5.1p1

  • Release format in MSI (Windows Installer)

  • A new webpage (this page)

  • Answered questions in the forums, yay!

  • OpenSSH 3.8.1p1 based setup using NSIS 2.0

  • The new release only updates the versions, no new functionality exists. Better functionality coming soon.

  • Due to some licensing issues, the older 3.71p1-1 - 20031015 Installer is no longer available. (I forgot to put up the cygwin source in the move, and I can't find the source files currently).

  • Any references to lexa.mckenna.edu should be disregarded, as I am no longer continuing the project on that server (I was getting between 700 megabytes to 1 gigabyte a day in traffic, so I decided to move to SourceForge).

  • Windows NT Service Support

  • Full install about 5mb, installer under 3mb (Cygwin bloat has increased the size)

  • Windows Command Prompt support for SSH Terminal

  • SCP/SFTP server support

  • Command-line clients included
