Quaker vinyl vs Jeld-wen premium vinyl casement windows

I have never heard of Quaker. Does that mean something?

They are both hovering just above the bottom of the barrel. Neither are a very good window. Is this new construction? Quality vinyl windows are somewhat regional so if you mention the area it will make it easier to point you towards a quality product.

Look into how many years is considered "lifetime"

Windsor vinyl is actually worse than the fist two you mentioned if that is possible.

Softlite is a very good window, as is Okna, and Sunrise.

I rec. Milgard. You won't be sorry, and you can get whatever you want with different finishes available. And right now, they are running deals. Ask your local dealer/door & window shop about it. Apparently they were having some major problems with there computers for a while and are now trying to make up for the mess ups by offering discounts. Worth a shot.

Milgard is good solid window, not in the category of the above mentioned performance wise and without knowing where the home is being built impossible to say if they are available as the have no distribution on the eastern half of the country

Does anyone know anything about Weather Shield Windows - Aluminum clad out wood inside. Live in Arkansas.

"Does anyone know anything about Weather Shield Windows - Aluminum clad out wood inside"

Lower end, poor quality, Poor fit and finish, poor performance values. Lousy customer service.

And they also ranked westhershield

Consumer Reports is useless, advertising dollars are what drives there rankings, no matter what they say. Is this new construction? Custom build? What do you have available to you for window brands? Budget idea? Type of window (casement, double hung, etc)? My best advice to you is to post this question in a new thread in the window forum section on houzz here

It is a 48 yr old traditional brick house with dormers at the top. All wood windows - single pane. Some of the windows will become fixed picture windows as they are not in bedrooms and will never be raised and I like the look - those are like 36 x 72 windows on the front of the house, others are DH in bedrooms, bathrooms. In our area we have Pella (which I hear leak due to their construction), Anderson, Quaker, Marvin, Jeld-wen. I wanted Anderson but they are 3 times the price of the others. Also it is a big remodel inside as well as replacing the windows for insulation purposes.
