Top free apps on Windows 10 and Windows Phone, Sept 2015 edition
If you are curious to see which apps are at the top of the charts on Windows 10 and Windows Phone, we’ve got you covered. Let’s start off by taking a quick look at the top free apps currently available on Windows (desktop).
For over a year now, Facebook has been the top free app, although having an average rating of 3.7. The app is basic and lacks a lot of functionality a Facebook user would desire, but it works if you want to quickly check your Facebook account for any incoming messages or status updates.
Netflix is also in the top five free apps category, with an average rating of 3.8. Netflix is the world’s leading subscription service for watching TV episodes and movies, so it comes as no surprise that it’s one of the most popular apps in the Windows Store. Xbox 30 SmartGlass and iHeartRadio are also at the top of the ladder, along with VLC for Windows Store. You can snag these apps from the download links below.
Moving over to the mobile side of things, Facebook once again dominates the free category. Unfortunately for Microsoft, the developer behind the app, the average customer rating is 2.8 (that’s pretty bad!). Lots of complaints about lack of functionality and constant newsfeed refresh issues.
The Podcasts app is also at the top of the ladder, but suffers from a poor customer rating of 3.1. Facebook Messenger, OneDrive, and Skype round out the top five free apps list for Windows Phone.
We’ve included download links to all five apps below for your downloading pleasure. Let us know in the comments below if you use any of these apps and if you have any suggestions on how these apps can be improved.
