Shop to Win adware - how to remove this browser add-on?


What is Shop to Win?


The Shop to Win browser extension (compatible with Internet Explorer and Mozilla FireFox) tracks Internet users' browsing and awards prizes to those who purchase products from their partners. Developers of this website claim that Shot to Win has partnered with more than 2500 merchants. This browser extension is not related to malware or virus infections, however, recent complaints from computer users state that they did not willingly install this plug-in and receive notifications and ads from Shop to Win. This categorizes the browser plug-in an unwanted application. There are two ways in which Shop to Win becomes installed on users' systems: 1) the plug-in is downloaded from the Shop to Win homepage and users' are aware of it presence on their systems, or; 2) it is bundled with free software and installed without users' consent.



Software developers often bundle their free programs with browser extensions, toolbars, etc. for monetization purposes. If you wish to avoid installation of unwanted browser plug-ins, express caution when installing freeware. Always check each installation step and opt-out of any additional browser add-ons and disallow changes to Internet browser settings (homepage, default search engine, etc.)


If you observe Shop to Win advertisements and feel that you have not willingly installed this browser add-on, use the removal instructions provided to eliminate this browser extension from your computer. If, however, you have installed it willingly and are aware of its presence on your system, you need take no further action, since this browser plug-in is not related to malware of virus infections. Shop to Win adware removal:



Click Start (Windows Logo at the bottom left corner of your desktop), choose Control Panel . Locate Programs and click Uninstall a program .



Click Start , choose Settings and click Control Panel . Locate and click Add or Remove Programs .


Windows 10 and Windows 8 users:



Right-click in the lower left corner of the screen, in the Quick Access Menu select Control Panel . In the opened window choose Programs and Features .



Click Finder , in the opened screen select Applications . Drag the app from the Applications folder to the Trash (located in your Dock), then right click the Trash icon and select Empty Trash .



In the uninstall programs window, look for "Shop To Win", select this entry and click " Uninstall" or "Remove"


After uninstalling Shop To Win adware, scan your computer for any remaining unwanted components or possible malware infections. Recommended malware removal software.

Remove malicious add-ons from Internet Explorer:



Click on the "gear" icon (at the top right corner of Internet Explorer) select "Manage Add-ons". Look for "Shop to Win" and disable this entry.


If you continue to have problems with removal of the shop to win virus, reset your Internet Explorer settings to default.


Windows XP users: Click Start , click Run , in the opened window type inetcpl.cpl In the opened window click the Advanced tab, then click Reset .



Windows Vista and Windows 7 users: Click the Windows logo, in the start search box type inetcpl.cpl and click enter. In the opened window click the Advanced tab, then click Reset .



Windows 8 users: Open Internet Explorer and click the gear icon. Select Internet Options .



In the opened window, select the Advanced tab.



Click the Reset button.



Confirm that you wish to reset Internet Explorer settings to default by clicking the Reset button.



Remove malicious plugins from Mozilla Firefox:



Click on the Firefox menu (at the top right corner of the main window) select "Add-ons". Click on "Extensions" and disable "ShopToWin2".


Computer users who have problems with shop to win virus removal can reset their Mozilla Firefox settings.


Open Mozilla Firefox, at the top right corner of the main window, click the Firefox menu , in the opened menu, click the Open Help Menu icon,



Select Troubleshooting Information .



In the opened window, click the Reset Firefox button.



In the opened window, confirm that you wish to reset Mozilla Firefox settings to default by clicking the Reset button.



Remove malicious extensions from Safari:



Make sure your Safari browser is active, click Safari menu , and select Preferences. .



In the opened window click Extensions , locate any recently installed suspicious extension, select it and click Uninstall .


Make sure your Safari browser is active and click on Safari menu. From the drop down menu select Clear History and Website Data.



In the opened window select all history and click the Clear History button.



Remove malicious add-ons from Microsoft Edge:



Click the three horizontal dots icon (at the top right corner of Microsoft Edge), select "Extensions". Look for any recently-installed suspicious extensions, right click your mouse on these entries and click " Uninstall ".



Click the three horizontal dots icon (at the top right corner of Microsoft Edge), and select Settings .



In the opened tab, click the " Choose what to clear " button.



Click Show more and select everything, and then click the " Clear " button.
