Great hardware compatibility. Super quick boot-times with proper hardware. Very customizable. Networking is easier than ever. More secure against viruses and Mal-ware than any previous version of windows. Comes pre-loaded with great apps and progs.

Uses a lot of system resources to run.

I think Microsoft out did itself with Windows 7. Given the proper hardware it runs better than any previous versions of Windows. It has a remarkable ability to support various hardware and software. The utilities that come pre-loaded are better than ever. You still need a third-party anti-virus but virtually every other maintenance and security software comes pre-loaded. The new Internet Explorer is great, but I still recommend downloading Mozilla Firefox. For anti-virus simply download the free edition of AVG from download.com. This is a very good showing from Microsoft.

Fast, stable, faster start-up and shutdown, great at multitasking, Aero peak and snap are nice features, and oh yeah, IT IS THE BEST OPERATING SYSTEM EVER.

Not as compatible with as many programs as xp. Somewhat expensive and battery life on laptops hasn't improved much.

You would be insane to stick with xp and vista. It is no doubt one of the best operating systems ever. Congratulations to you Microsoft.

Everything about windows 7 is great !!

After running vista for years ,I boughtt new comp. with windows 7 64 bit . like night and day Microsoft put in a lot of work as to not put out another vista and they put out a great O.S window 7.

Aero peek, snap and other aero features. Jump lists, Show desktop. Taskbar is great.

A great OS very nice to use and very fast. Microsoft did a great job on it with help from users like you and me giving feedback and just using the free beta and candidate releases.

Nicely redesigned UI

Beginning to copy off of the Mac

While Windows 7 offers unique functionality over past Windows versions, it is not worth $119 to upgrade. Some programs loose compatibility while others maintain better speed. It is becoming more and more like the Mac.

The OS runs remarkably well on newer laptops (Mine having 3GB RAM), programs run rather well on it. Rather user friendly. Good for the basic home uses and mostly for College work.

Some older programs take a little tweaking to get it to work. Somewhat expensive.

This operating system was a real comeback for Windows after the Vista disaster. This one doesn't take up much processing compared to its predecessor. Most older programs will work on it, though some will require tweaking. On the upside, those that do need tweaking VIA Compatibility mode isn't as difficult to tweak as an option was added to test for the best compatibility setting for optimal performance. Newer programs don't require much of any tweaking. if any! Rather useful for those (like myself) who are going to college for a computer-based degree and will be dealing with programs old and new while going through the courses. Though on the topic of college, the price is a bit high. but then again, what does one expect from an operating system this good and this fresh into the market?
